Good Place with Julia

Meet Julia! A runner, creative, and recent victim of our Instagram editorial.

She found UNNA while looking for a community in a new country, and stuck around for the runs, the energy, and (hopefully) the people.

Running clears her head. Drawing and music fuel her creativity. Nature keeps her grounded.
Taking time to reset and do what she actually enjoys - that’s how she “UNNA” herself.

John-Ruben:

Hey Julia, how did you end up on UNNA’s instagram and blog post?

Julia:

I’m the intern and you said you wanted to promote me because I’m so good at my work, right?

John-Ruben

Yeah right! And you’re such a good energy to have around! Why did you want to intern at UNNA btw?

Julia:

Thank you and I’m really enjoying my time at UNNA. Such a good question!

When I moved to Sweden I was looking for sport communities I can relate to or be a part of, and UNNA was the first one that caught my attention with it’s cool clothes and running events! I remember I thought “It would be so cool to be a part of their community”. So when I started looking for an internship as part of my school program I randomly came across a LinkedIn post about you guys looking for an intern and I thought it was such a great chance and applied without a second thought. And the rest is history!

John-Ruben:

I agree, I usually also ask, as UNNA is the Swedish word for treating yourself.. What do you do to treat yourself?

Julia:

I really like your brand name btw! I try to prioritize self care, like taking proper time to reset, eating good food, doing something I really enjoy.

John-Ruben:

I actually read somewhere that having a self care routine is proven to be amazing for mental wellbeing. What kind of things do you enjoy?

Julia:

I really enjoy drawing by hand on canvas whenever I have the time. I like illustrating and graphic design and I love listening to music, it kind of fuels my creativity. And also being in a nature, I love running, hiking. I think being outside really helps our mental health.

Speaking of mental health, what would you say to someone who’s trying to take better care of their mental health but doesn’t know where to start?

Julia:

I’d say start small. It doesn’t have to be a big routine. Sometimes it’s just stepping outside for a bit of fresh air or doing something you genuinely enjoy, even if it’s just for 10 minutes. Those small moments really add up. Also, try not to be too hard on yourself. It’s okay if you don’t have everything figured out yet.

John-Ruben:

I love that. So, seeing yourself at like 80 years old, who would you like to have become?

Julia:

An 80 years-old who’s still active, able to travel and really enjoy life to the fullest without feeling limited. I think taking good care of our health at young age is a great investment in the future.

John-Ruben:

I agree. I got a new question: what is your favorite album and book?

Julia:

My favorite album is “Work of Art” by Nigerian artist Asake and my favourite book is “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running” by Haruki Murakami. It inspired me so much when I first read it in 2020 during covid times.

Julia:

My pleasure! And thank you for the opportunity!
